MSVU Mystics take down Chargers 3-1

MONCTON, NB - Visiting MSVU Mystics hand the Crandall Women's Volleyball their third loss of the season, winning it 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21).

The Chargers came out strong in the first set taking the Mystics by surprise to win their sole set of the match. While the Mystics would take the next three sets to win it, the Chargers had their chances and were down by three points to try to force a fifth set.

Chargers Outside Hitter, Janette Blanchette led the team in kills with 17 on 29 attempts. Blanchette currently leads the ACAA with 32 kills on the season. Amy LeBlang, recorded 29 of the chargers 31 assists on the night while also adding a kill, 3 aces and a block assists.

The Mystics spread the ball around on offense, with Nicole Rector, Mary MacNeal, Hannah Huntley and Maia Green all recording double digit kill attempts.

While the Chargers led the game offensively, it was the defensive efforts and lack of penalties that won the game for the Mystics. MSVU outpaced Crandall 28-19 in digs and a combined 23 blocks compared to Crandall's 4. The Chargers were also called on six ball handling errors in the match.

The Chargers have had their opportunities so far this season and are looking to finally get their first win of the season Saturday afternoon as they head to Pointe-de-l'Église, Nova Scotia to take on the 0-2 Université Sainte-Anne Dragons.
