Crandall’s Luke Purdy Makes History at CCAA National Championships

Crandall University is celebrating a historic milestone after Luke Purdy delivered an exceptional performance at the CCAA National Cross-Country Running Championships from November 7th to 8th in Brookvale, Prince Edward Island. Battling a demanding, hilly course and heavy Maritime weather, Purdy finished 10th overall in the men's race with a time of 26:35, earning Crandall's—and the ACAA's—first-ever Men's All-Canadian honour in cross-country running.

"This was a goal I've had since my first year," Purdy shared. "I trusted my training and stayed focused, even with the mud, rain, and wind. Having family and friends there made it even more meaningful."

Purdy executed a strategic race plan, using smart positioning and a strong closing push to secure his Top-10 finish on one of the toughest national courses in recent years. His achievement also highlights the rapid growth of the Crandall Chargers Cross-Country program, led by Coach LeBlanc and supported by a strong team culture.

"Our coaches put in endless hours," Purdy said. "I wouldn't be where I am without their support and the encouragement of my teammates."

Looking ahead, Purdy aims to carry this momentum into the indoor and outdoor track seasons, with goals of running fast 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, and ultimately returning to next year's CCAA Championships in pursuit of a national medal.

Crandall University congratulates Luke on this remarkable accomplishment and celebrates the dedication and excellence he continues to bring to the Chargers program.
