Chargers Fall to CCAA Ranked UNBSJ in High-Scoring Contest

The Crandall Chargers were unable to keep pace with UNBSJ, falling 103–79 on Saturday afternoon at Crandall University.

Crandall got off to a strong start, shooting efficiently in the opening quarter to take a 26–14 lead. UNBSJ responded with a decisive second quarter, outscoring the Chargers 34–13 to swing momentum and take control heading into halftime. The visitors continued to build their lead through the third quarter and maintained separation down the stretch.

Jayden Lucas led the Chargers with a team-high 22 points, knocking down 6 three-pointers in an efficient offensive performance off the bench. Colby McIntosh added 14 points, while Ethan Culberson and Jayden Johnson each finished with 13 points. Dave Hutton contributed 8 points and 4 assists, providing steady leadership at the guard position.

Crandall shot 42.3 percent from the field and an impressive 48.0 percent from three-point range, but struggled to match UNBSJ on the glass, being outrebounded 53–26. Second-chance opportunities and points off turnovers favored the visitors, who converted 22 points off turnovers and 18 second-chance points.

UNBSJ's balanced scoring and depth proved decisive, as the visitors pushed the lead to as many as 29 points late in the game.

The Chargers will look to build on their perimeter shooting while focusing on rebounding and defensive consistency as they prepare for their next matchup.
