Chargers Edge Holland in Thrilling One-Point Finish
The Crandall Chargers pulled out a dramatic 100–99 victory over Holland on Friday night at Crandall University, closing the game at the free-throw line after a back-and-forth contest that featured 8 lead changes and 7 ties.
Crandall came out firing in the opening quarter, shooting nearly 70 percent from the field to take a 35–30 lead after ten minutes. Holland answered in the second quarter to briefly regain momentum, but the Chargers stayed composed and went into halftime within striking distance before reasserting control in the third.
The fourth quarter saw the lead change hands multiple times, with neither team able to create separation. Holland tied the game at 99–99 in the final minute, but Dave Hutton calmly stepped to the line and knocked down the game-winning free throw with 41 seconds remaining. Crandall came up with the final defensive stop to seal the one-point win.
Luca Del Bosco led the Chargers with 23 points, attacking the paint and converting 10-of-11 free throws. Caleb Rennie added 21 points and 7 assists, while Ethan Culberson chipped in 19 points on efficient shooting. Colby McIntosh also finished with 19 points, rounding out a balanced offensive performance that saw five Chargers score in double figures.
Crandall shot an impressive 53.2 percent from the field and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line, finishing 27-for-32 at the stripe. The Chargers also recorded 17 assists while committing just 11 turnovers, helping offset Holland's edge in second-chance points.
