MONCTON, NB - The Crandall Women's Volleyball team put on a show against the visiting Dalhousie Rams on Sunday afternoon. The Rams would take the game in 4 sets (25-17, 29-27, 26-24, 30-28).
It was a thrilling rollercoaster of a game with three of the four sets needing extra points to decide a winner. Three of the players on the court on Sunday are amongst the top 5 league leaders for Kills Per Set with Janelle Blanchette (2.63) and Melora Cook (2.54) for the Chargers and Sofia Miller (2.50) representing the Rams.
The Chargers have not had much luck on the block so far but this may have had their best game on the defensive side so far this year, led by Sarah-Maude Malenfant tallying 13 digs. As a team the Chargers were running more balls down and continuing long rallies.
Crandall are on the verge of getting their first win of the season and have three winnable matches to round out the first half of the season before the break. Next weekend Crandall will have a weekend homestand against the UNBSJ Seawolves (2-2) and Universit Sainte-Anne Dragons (1-4).
