Chargers Push Highly Ranked UNBSJ to Five Sets in Gritty Home Battle

The Crandall Chargers went toe-to-toe with a highly ranked UNBSJ squad on November 2nd, but came up just short in a hard-fought five-set match, falling 3–2 (24–26, 21–25, 25–19, 25–14, 15–13) at Crandall University.

Facing one of the top teams in the CCAA, Crandall showed resilience from the opening serve. The Chargers claimed the first two sets with disciplined execution and strong defensive play, putting early pressure on the visitors. UNBSJ responded with momentum-shifting performances in the third and fourth sets to force a decisive fifth.

The final set was tightly contested, with both teams trading points deep into the frame. UNBSJ edged ahead late and closed out the match 15–13, narrowly escaping with the win.

Charlie Benoit led the Chargers with 13 kills, six service aces, and consistent pressure from the pin. Jolie Allain added 13 kills and five digs, while Emma Visser contributed five kills, five service aces, and steady back-row defense. Hailey Legacy provided key net presence with three kills, three block assists, and two solo blocks, and Brianna Tingley added efficient offense and defensive support.

Setter Kallie Woodworth guided the offense with 32 assists, while Amy Le Blang anchored the defense with 12 digs. Crandall showed strong serving pressure throughout the match, recording 14 service aces against the nationally respected opponent.

Despite the result, the Chargers' performance stands as a statement effort against a top-tier CCAA program, demonstrating their ability to compete at a high level and push elite opponents to the limit.

The Chargers will look to build on this showing as they continue their season.
